Training and Degrees: Cindy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1989 from Linfield College in Portland, Oregon. In 1988 she began working in inpatient mental health at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. From 1988 to 1991 she conducted critical incident stress debriefings for local police, paramedics and firefighters in the community on a volunteer basis. She graduated with her Master of Arts in Counseling from Mars Hill Graduate School (now called the Seattle School of Theology and Psychology) in Seattle in 2005, and went on to complete a two-year internship under the supervision of Brian Cox, LCSW. The internship included training in marriage and individual counseling with specific training in the areas of grief, trauma, and attachment. Cindy’s work rests on the foundational wisdom of Bessel van der Kolk, John Briere, Judith Herman, Dan Siegel, Steve Porges, Bonnie Badenoch, Elizabeth Kubler Ross, and Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
Cindy volunteers as a trauma therapist to provide disaster relief and trauma debriefings for individuals and groups. She believes strongly in continuing education, and has attended training over the past 30 years that included treating complex psychological trauma, post-traumatic stress, traumatic grief, interpersonal neurobiology and attachment, addiction, Jungian therapy and dream interpretation, and the use of the Enneagram to aid in spiritual and emotional development.
As a counselor, Cindy works with individuals, couples and groups. She is also available to speak for your group or organization on a variety of counseling-related topics including grief, the healing journey, healing from childhood trauma, creating safe community, supporting your spouse through a healing journey, the effects of trauma on your marriage and helping communities recover after a natural disaster.
